The Twin Cities’ premier wargame and boardgame club since 1982.
We play every Friday at The Source, located at the northwest corner of Skillman Avenue and West Snelling in Roseville (just south of Highway 36, next to Erik’s Bike Shop): 2057 Snelling Avenue, 55113
What do we play?
Anything with a board, but we LOVE wargames.
Do I have to be a member to show up?
Absolutely not. Anyone is welcome, always. Just make sure you introduce yourself and you can be sure we’ll do the same.
How easy is it to join? What does a member do?
Show up and play a few games. Submit an application. All our meetings are conducted online, via email; we don’t like to waste precious gaming time doing anything but gaming. Cost is minimal: $12/yr. Your only responsibility is helping us expand this fantastic hobby by lending a hand with our events . . . but only if you’re around and you like that kind of thing; hosting tournaments and theme nights . . . but only if if you’re so inclined and you like that kind of thing; and most of all, being a decent and welcoming gamer on Friday nights . . . now this one, whether you like it or not, well, that’s mandatory.
See, it’s a pretty low bar.
Alright, I’ll check it out. What time? Do I need to bring anything?
Every Friday, 1st Minn members are setting up games at The Source in the mid-afternoon — though some start as early as 10 a.m.! — and we often play until well after midnight. Most show up between 4 p.m and 7 p.m. Some are planned games, but many are pickups springing up throughout the day/night.
If you have a game you want to play, by all means bring it. But also know each one of us is carting a trunkful of games everywhere we go. There’s always something to play. Just check out our weekly I WANT TO PLAY thread on the BGG guild — post what you want to play and you’ll get a game. We’re looking forward to seeing you!
